The East Carolina Alumni Association presents the Pirate Alumni 5K Road Race and mile Fun Run. Join fellow alumni and friends as we race for ECU student scholarships. Runners of all ages will enjoy the 5K road race or 1 mile fun run. About Our RaceAll proceeds from the Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run benefit East Carolina Alumni Association scholarships. The Alumni Association annually awards deserving ECU undergraduate student scholarships to be used in the following academic year. To date, the Alumni Association has awarded 134 scholarships and last year’s race raised $5,600 for our scholarship fund. Date & TimeSaturday, April 14, 2012. 5K road race begins at 9:00 a.m.; 1-mile fun run begins immediately following the start of the road race.LocationThe start area is located at U.B.E. at the corner of Cotanche Street and Reade Circle.Race Course (map it)The 5K race begins on Reade Circle adjacent to West End Dining Hall in uptown Greenville. It then turns east on Fifth Street and travels next to campus to just before Village Glen Apartments. It follows the same route back to Reade Circle.Timing and scoring with shoe chips by East Carolina Road Racing. The fun run follows part of the same route. Results will be available at www.ecrr.us.Entry FeesThe entry fee for the 5K road race or 1-mile fun run is $15 until March 30 (EXTENDED UNTIL APRIL 6!) and $25 thereafter.                 Packet Pick-Up    Race packets can be picked up at U.B.E. the day prior to the race (April 13) from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. or on race day starting at 7:30 a.m.         Awards    Awards will be presented to the first three male finishers overall, to the first three female finishers overall, and the top three male and female finishers in each of the age groups below. No awards will be presented to fun run participants.        Age Categories for Both Sexes    15 and under    16-19
