Our students are our gold. They’re the reason we get up early, stay up late, extend our office hours, and give our all day in and day out. We believe every student in need of a scholarship should be given the opportunity to better their future at ECU. That is why ECU created the Beacon Scholars program.

At ECU, we promise our students access to an affordable education. But in order to create those golden opportunities for students, we need your support. Your contribution not only funds scholarships, but nourishes the future quality of life in our region. The majority of our graduates remain in the state and become top-quality engineers, audiologists, teachers, writers, and everything in between. We produce more leaders in education than any other four-year institution in the state, at a time when our schools are facing teaching shortages like never before. ECU is the top producer of nurses among North Carolina’s four-year educational institutions. And with the largest business school in North Carolina, we’re delivering nearly 1,000 innovators, entrepreneurs, and future business leaders to the economy every year. Our university is critical to the future of our state, our country, and the world.

Create Success Near and Far

Scholarships of any amount can mean the difference between attending and not attending college. With the Beacon Scholars program, ECU has significantly increased its scholarship offerings to recruit a wide variety of first-year students and retain those well-rounded and highly-qualified sophomores, juniors, and seniors as they select their majors and are welcomed into our colleges. We understand the competitive nature of higher education and want to ensure that no hard-working student misses out on the chance at an ECU education. With this initiative, ECU awards up to five hundred $1,000 recruitment scholarships each fall to new freshmen. Additionally, as those students continue their education and select a major, the college-specific Beacon Scholarships are there to support them.
