Research is critical to discover the cause of autism and autism spectrum disorders. First identified in 1943, no one exactly knows what causes ASD. The more we know about the parts of the brain affected by ASD and how it processes language and information, the better those with ASD can be treated. The Litwa Lab at ECU is working diligently to find just that through growth of mini brains with affected cells.
