Membership & Marketing

Chris Williams '01
Director for Membership and Resource Development

Chris leads the membership and marketing team, managing the association's strategy for maintaining a lucrative membership program and providing effective electronic and print communications. Prior to joining the East Carolina Alumni Association in 2008, he was the Assistant Director for Membership and Marketing for the Florida State University Alumni Association. While at ECU, Chris has helped to enhance and expand the alumni membership program. After a brief time in Annual Giving, he returns to the association where he makes use of his years of experience in higher education philanthropy and non-profit organizations.

Chris is a 2001 graduate of ECU with a BS in economics and a minor in business administration.

Originally from Tallahassee, FL, Chris and his wife Tracee ’00 now live in Greenville. In his spare time he enjoys the arts, traveling, watching movies, cooking and spending time with family and friends.


Shawn Moore '91, '98
Director of Scholarships and Signature Programs

Shawn is responsible for the alumni association’s signature events – Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run, ECU Alumni Scholarship Classic golf tournament, and the Alumni Awards Ceremony and Dinner as well as other large one-time events, including Chancellor's events. She is also in charge of the Alumni Scholars Program and coordinates the selection for the alumni scholars, alumni award recipients, Robert H. Wright recipients and new board members with the alumni association board. Shawn has spent 17 years in higher education including nine years as the Community Partner Coordinator for ECU’s Volunteer and Service-Learning Center.

Shawn is a two-time graduate of ECU with a B.S. in public history in 1991 and M.A. in maritime history and nautical archaeology in 1998. She also holds a Certificate of Non-Profit Management from Duke University.

Originally from Chesapeake, VA, Shawn and her husband Will ’92 live in Greenville. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, and volunteering with the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.


Mary C. Medina, Ph.D.
Director for Outreach

Mary leads the outreach team in implementing various programs including alumni athletics events, student socials, regional chapter engagement, and reunions. Mary also serves as the primary contact for affinity chapter relations and campus relations. Prior to joining the alumni association, she spent time in other areas of higher education including multicultural affairs, career services, and fraternity and sorority life.

Mary is a 2004 graduate of Clemson University with a B.A. in mathematical sciences, a 2006 graduate of Florida State University with a M.S. in higher education, and a 2016 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Ph.D. in educational research and policy analysis.  

Coming from a military family, Mary grew up in Columbia, SC. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, watching movies, cooking, and community service and engagement through her involvement in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.


Megan Howard '07
Assistant Director for Outreach

As a member of the alumni outreach team, Megan plans the alumni association’s social activities and events for alumni. She also coordinates the Senior Celebration and Legacy Picnic.

Born and raised in Greenville, Megan is a 2007 graduate of ECU with a B.S. in management of recreation and facilities services (concentration in tourism) and a minor in business. Since graduating from ECU, she has spent much of her career programing events/activities for youth in the Greenville area.

Megan and her husband Matthew ’11 are raising their children, Lily and Wyatt, in the Greenville area. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as traveling to new places to meet new people.

She is excited to provide fun events for East Carolina alumni to connect with each other and with the university.

Lindsay Raymond-Weston
Assistant Director for Outreach

As a member of the outreach team, Lindsay supports regional chapters and affinity groups. This includes assisting with regional social events and affinity reunions.

Prior to joining the alumni association, she worked for the USO where she grew passionate about supporting our women and men in the Armed Forces, and found her career niche in event planning. She has since spent her career serving in both corporate and non-profit event planning capacities.

Lindsay is a graduate of Elon University and comes to Greenville from the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, Ryan, and their “fur baby” Ellie. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, traveling, cooking, and volunteering with Young Life.

Financial Services

Candi High '97

Candi is part of the ECU Foundation Financial Services team serving as the accountant for the Alumni Center. Candi graduated from ECU in 1997 with a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in accounting. Prior to joining ECU she worked in the accounting department at Overton’s, Inc. for eleven years.

Originally from Aulander, Candi lives in Greenville with her husband Vernon, son Asher Matthew, daughter Alayna, and their dog Kacey. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies, and trips to the beach.

Monique Best
Accounting Technician

Monique is part of the ECU Foundation Financial Services team serving as an accounting technician for the Alumni Center. Monique has more than 11 years experience working at ECU in the financial area. Monique served in the United States Army for ten years, including service in the military police.

Monique lives in Greenville and enjoys spending time with her family, playing softball, and traveling.

"My wife and I both graduated from ECU and we are both lifetime members of the Alumni Association. We've always had a devotion to East Carolina, and because we gained so much from our education, we think lifetime membership is a great way to give back to the University. I would recommend lifetime membership to anyone who went to East Carolina. There are many wonderful benefits, and it's very special."

"I am a member of the alumni association because it provides an opportunity for me to connect to the university, renew relationships through alumni events, and help attract potential students to ECU. As an active member of the alumni association, I have the chance to serve as an advocate for the university through volunteerism.
