As a member of the Alumni Association you can:

Advance Your Career

Every East Carolina graduate wants to succeed in his or her career field after graduating. Membership in the Alumni Association provides alumni with career-related assistance through our partnership with the University’s Career Center and by providing alumni numerous opportunities to network with other alumni. Each month the Alumni Association sponsors Pirate Career Calls featuring tips and advice on taking your career to the next level. Our alumni magazine, Servire, also features “Career Corner” in every issue. PAN, the Pirate Alumni Network, is a group of alumni who volunteer as mentors for current ECU students to help get them on the right career path prior to graduation. Our online alumni community through PirateAlumni.com gives you access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to other alumni to network, ask advice, and share your accomplishments.

Congratulations Graduates!

The East Carolina Alumni Association would like to extend a warm welcome to all new ECU alumni! You are in esteemed company with more than 123,00 Pirates across the Pirate Nation. Be proud of your Pirate heritage and help spread the good news of ECU wherever your “ship” might take you.

Congratulations on your graduation and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Go Pirates!

Meet Our Pirate
As part of our Centennial, the East Carolina Alumni Association teamed with the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the Painted Pirate Project, a citywide art project. In addition, the Alumni Association sponsored one of the statues. Painted by Mike Litwin ’01, the Pirate stands over six feet tall and is painted in traditional purple and gold. The entire statue is embellished with tone-on-tone transferred photographs detailed with colored pencil that depict important ECU people and places. Titled “Fortune of Heritage” the Alumni Association’s Painted Pirate will be on display at the Alumni Center. Please stop by to take a look at this great Pirate artwork! View all Painted Pirates.

Prom Held for Special Populations
The ECU Ambassadors, a service organization sponsored by the Alumni Association, held a very special prom for some very special individuals. On Saturday, April 19 the Boys & Girls Club of Pitt County was alive with a Hollywood theme of “Opening Night, Prom 2008.” More than 200 special guests, family, and volunteers attended this inaugural event. One parent commented, “My daughter talked about it for weeks before and ever since.” Another said, “I wanted to thank each one of you for the efforts you made to make such a special night for our children and those with developmental disabilities in our community. What an awesome night for them!” The ECU Ambassadors are looking forward to next year’s event!

Road Race Huge Success

Held during PirateFest 2008 the inaugural Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina was an overwhelming success! 175 athletes of all ages participated in the 5K and 1 mile fun run, which raised more than $6,000 for ECU scholarships. The certified course took runners alongside ECU’s campus on Fifth Street. After the race, participants were treated to breakfast and plenty of prizes. The response to the race was so positive that the Alumni Association is already planning for next year! Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 18, 2009.

Thank You Volunteers!

In honor of volunteer recognition week (April 27-May 3, 2008) the East Carolina Alumni Association would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You!” to all of our volunteers! Throughout the year hundreds of dedicated Pirates (and friends of ECU) lend their time, talent, and support to the activities of the Alumni Association. Without your commitment, the Alumni Association would not be able to provide so many engaging, exciting, and enjoyable events for alumni and friends. From California to New York, from Cape Hatteras to Florida, and back home to Greenville, the Alumni Association is fortunate to have volunteers all across the Pirate Nation. Thank You for all that you do!
