Centennial Pirate membership in the Alumni Association is central to our membership program as it builds an endowment that will ensure strong, vibrant, and effective alumni services and programs for all generations of Pirates.

November Deans on Deck
| Enjoy an evening with fellow alumni and friends of the University at a Deans on Deck event. Deans on Deck fosters communication and knowledge sharing between the University's colleges and schools and our constituents. These events are also terrific opportunities to network with fellow Pirates in your area and make important business and social connections. Two Deans on Deck events are planned for November: Deans on Deck is $10 for Alumni Association members and $15 for non-members, which includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages. Networking Breakfast in Greensboro, NC
| Start your day off with fellow Pirates! Join the Alumni Association and prominent alumni in your area for breakfast, networking, and mingling. Our next Networking Breakfast is:
- Thursday, November 12 at Kress Terrace in Greensboro, NC with Ernest Logemann '68, partner at Gray Callison & Company, PA and chair of the Alumni Association's Board of Directors; Carol Mabe '70, independent consultant and member of ECU's Board of Trustees and chair of the ECU Foundation Board of Directors; and Steve Showfety '70, president of Koury Corporation, 2008 Distinguished Service Award recipient, and member of the ECU Foundation Board of Directors
Networking Breakfasts are from 7:30-9:00 a.m. and are $5 for Alumni Association members and $10 for non-members, which includes a variety of breakfast foods and beverages. Register now!

ECU Military Reunion
| Are you a graduate of one of East Carolina's ROTC programs? Did you serve in one of our country's military branches and then attend ECU? Or perhaps you heard the call for duty after graduation? Whatever your involvement with our armed services, East Carolina would like to honor you during the 2009 Military Reunion and Military Appreciation Day. Participants will enjoy open house, opportunities to meet with current ROTC cadets, Alumni Tailgate, and Pirates Football. Make plans now to return to ECU on Saturday, November 21 for the 2009 Military Reunion.

ECU Army ROTC Wounded Warrior Run
| American soldiers risk their lives to ensure freedom for our country. Because of their bravery, many are wounded in battle and require medical and financial assistance upon their return home. Team-up with the Pirate Battalion for this year's ECU Army ROTC Wounded Warrior Run on Saturday, November 14 through Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, NC to raise funds for these brave men and women. Steven Benjamin '76 Attorney Steven Benjamin is a second vice president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the nation’s top criminal defense organization. Benjamin had previously served on the Association’s Executive Committee as NACDL Treasurer, Secretary, and on the Board of Directors. Benjamin is an attorney in private practice with the Richmond, VA firm of Benjamin & DesPortes. In addition to his private practice, he serves as special counsel to the Virginia Senate Courts of Justice Committee and to the Virginia State Crime Commission. He is a member of the Virginia Board of Forensic Science and the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. He is a past president of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, an NACDL state affiliate, and a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He is a recipient of the Virginia State Bar’s Lewis F. Powell Pro Bono Award, and is a frequent national lecturer on criminal justice.
Michael McShane '66 A new member of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, Michael McShane ’66 has stayed connected with East Carolina for many years. Having spent his career as a Washington, D.C. insider, McShane was honored as an Outstanding Alumni award recipient in 1998 and was a featured guest on the Alumni Association’s radio program A Pirate’s Life for Me! As a Board member, McShane will assist in guiding the Alumni Association in a continued direction of success to increase Alumni Association membership, grow the Alumni Scholarship program, and consistently provide the communications, programs, and events that ECU's alumni expect and deserve. Currently, McShane is a Congressional Liaison Officer with the Agency for International Development. His responsibilities include Congressional relations between the Agency’s Middle East and Asia Bureaus and Congress. Interested in volunteering for the East Carolina Alumni Association?
