Mike Longmeyer '97
As vice president of Gallopade International, Mike Longmeyer '97 is a leader in children's book publishing. Now located in Peachtree City, GA, Gallopade has roots in eastern North Carolina and a strong connection to its maritime history. One of the publishers books is The Mystery of Blackbeard the Pirate, written by Longmeyer's mother and founder of Gallopade International Carol Marsh. At Gallopade Longmeyer is responsible for the financial and accounting departments, production and fulfillment facilities, and assists with new product development. When Longmeyer was a student at ECU, he helped the family business by often working out of his apartment. During his last year at ECU, Longmeyer developed a unique state social studies CD-ROM program with editions for every state. Both that and Gallopade’s more than 60 other products helped put the company on the national educational map. So has the more than 60 America’s National Mystery Series of Real Kids! Real Places! books as well as the Carol Marsh Mysteries. “The thing that is so rewarding about children’s book publishing is that if a book is done well and is popular, it just never goes out of style or favor. We have kids who read our books thirty years ago, and now, their children are reading them," said Longmeyer.
 Rick Doub '80
Rick Doub '80 has supported East Carolina and the Alumni Association for a number of years. He currently serves as the Arizona contact for the Alumni Association and helps plan events and activities for alumni and friends living in Arizona. Recently, Doub and his wife Terry, who also attended ECU, hosted an alumni gathering at their home in Cave Creek, AZ. Prior to the event, Doub and fellow Pirates played a round of golf at the Rancho Manana Golf Course. Location does not deter Doub from volunteering for and participating in alumni events--especially those that involve golf. Although he lives in Arizona, he found time to participate in the New York Golf Centennial Scholarship Celebration in 2008. Doub is senior vice president of sales for MediLinq. He enjoys golf and travel, and has visited 17 countries and 41 states throughout his career. He and wife Terry have two sons, Lucas and Logan. Interested in volunteering with the Alumni Association? Contact Kendra Alexander at 800-ECU-GRAD.
