New York City Art Gallery Reception

Gather with fellow Pirates and art lovers for a reception in honor of one ECU’s art majors. Thanks to a special relationship with Bob Keiber, Berkeley College professor, artist, gallery director, and father of 1992 ECU graduate and actor Christian Keiber, ECU’s School of Art & Design has been given gallery space to showcase one budding artist for a month. Jami Kunkle, a 2009 art graduate from Wake Forest, North Carolina will display her work.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009
5:30 p.m.
Berkeley College Midtown Manhattan Campus
First Floor Lobby
3 East 43rd Street
New York, NY 10017

Showcasing an ECU art student’s work at Berkeley College’s Art Gallery will bring great exposure and notoriety to East Carolina’s fine arts program and strengthen its relationship with the prestigious New York art world. "Jami Kunkle was chosen, not just for her obvious skills, but because of the subject matter she chose to paint. She chose to depict decaying, dilapidated, abandoned home interiors as beautiful, appealing images that tell a story. That is a very risky, creative choice. I was knocked out by her refreshing viewpoint. I haven't seen that kind of imagery in New York to date," said Keiber of Kunkle's work.

Tickets are $5 for Alumni Association members and $10 for non-members, which includes light refreshments.
