Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run

All proceeds from the Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run benefit East Carolina Alumni Association scholarships. The Alumni Association annually awards deserving ECU undergraduate students with $1,000 scholarships to be used in the following academic year. To date, the Alumni Association has awarded 92 scholarships.

Awards are presented to the first three male finishers overall, to the first three female finishers overall, and the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups:

15 and under
16-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70 and over

No awards are presented to Fun Run participants.

The date for the 2011 Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run has not been determined at this time.

History of the Road Race

2010
Race was held April 17 at 9:00 a.m. and started at the Taylor-Slaughter Alumni Center. The event was presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and sponsored by Core Fitness & Wellness Center, Culligan Water, Christopher J. Gauland of Eastern Carolina Foot and Ankle Specialists, East Carolina Road Racing, Minges Bottling Group (Pepsi), Occasions Party & Tent Rentals, Orthopaedics East, Panera Bread, RoadID, Runner's World, Scott Investigations, Southern Insurance Agency, and WITN.

The event was presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, Chico's, Coastal Beverage Company, East Carolina Foot and Ankle Specialists, East Carolina Road Racing, Mountain Valley Spring Water, Occasions Party & Tent Rentals, Panera Bread, Road ID, Runner's World, Signs Now, and WITN.
