Kyle Smithwick

This past academic year, Kyle Smithwick served as president of the ECU Ambassadors organization, the premier service organization whose members are the official student representatives for the Alumni Association, Chancellor, Office of Admissions, Department of Athletics, and the surrounding community. As president, Smithwick led the ECU Ambassadors through hundreds of hours of service projects and volunteer opportunities, including campus tours, assisting with athletic recruits, attending official University events, helping at Alumni Tailgate and other Alumni Association activities, and sponsoring the Special Populations Prom. Smithwick said of his year as Ambassador president, "Being the president of the ECU Ambassadors was such an honor. I had the pleasure of serving with 75 other students whose first priority was to serve their University and their surrounding community. I truly enjoyed being able to serve alongside the Alumni Association to help make each alum's interaction with ECU the best."

Smithwick is also a member of the Alumni Association's newest student organization Forever Pirates. Students who join Forever Pirates pledge to be life members of the Alumni Association upon graduation. “ECU is so much more than a university, it is my home. I joined Forever Pirates to stay connected with the place that has taught me so many things about myself and the world around me,” said Smithwick. Student Forever Pirates receive the same membership benefits as alumni life members and can also participate in special student Forever Pirates activities, like T-shirt days, etiquette dinners, cruisin' to spring break, study breaks, and BEAT T-shirts. The Forever Pirates program strives to solidify students' pride in the University before they become alumni and foster communication between current ECU students and the Alumni Association. All current ECU students are encouraged to join Forever Pirates and can find out more information on our Web site.
