Every East Carolina graduate wants to succeed in his or her career field after graduating. Membership in the Alumni Association provides alumni with career-related assistance through our partnership with the University’s Career Center and by providing alumni numerous opportunities to network with other alumni. Each month the Alumni Association sponsors Pirate Career Casts featuring tips and advice on taking your career to the next level. Our alumni magazine, EC Alumni, also features “Career Corner” in every issue. Our online alumni community through PirateAlumni.com and our LinkedIn profile give you access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to other alumni to network, ask advice, and share your accomplishments.

| Dedication to our Students
The Alumni Association is committed to helping the University recruit excellent students. A strong Alumni Association demonstrates that East Carolina is more than just four years of college; it is a lifetime of pride, passion, and tradition. Alumni interaction with students solidifies relationships with the University. The Alumni Association also invests more than $50,000 in student programs, services, and scholarships. From the ECU Ambassadors and Magnolia Belles, to senior week events and work-study opportunities, the Alumni Association’s student programs instill service and leadership in our students, preparing them to be citizens of the world.

The most effective way to increase the value of an East Carolina degree is to showcase the accomplishments of our scores of alumni. The Alumni Association is dedicated to recognizing these individuals through our Awards program, our alumni magazine, EC Alumni, and A Pirate’s Life for Me! radio show. Highlighting alumni achievement brings credibility to the University’s many programs and makes East Carolina desirable to those with similar aspirations.

| Increase ECU's National Rankings
A strong Alumni Association makes a stronger University and increases the value of every East Carolina degree. The Chancellor often emphasizes “that for East Carolina to continue to be the University FOR North Carolina, strong alumni support is critical.” National ranking organizations agree. In fact, “alumni participation” is included in their evaluations and ultimately in how they rank an institution. Membership in the East Carolina Alumni Association helps ECU rise in national rankings.

| Torchbearers of Tradition
From Homecoming and the Golden Alumni Ceremony, to affinity reunions and the Senior Candlelight Ceremony, tradition abounds at dear ole East Car’lina. The Alumni Association assumes the responsibility of recognizing and awarding outstanding and deserving faculty. Each year, the Association recognizes three East Carolina faculty members for their dedication, commitment, and arduous work. The Alumni Association also supports the programs and communications of the Retired Faculty Association.

Events and programs are developed and offered each year for alumni to come home to East Carolina, either on campus or with alumni and friends across the Pirate Nation.
