Pirate Voyages

The East Carolina Alumni Association travel Program, Pirate Voyages, provides opportunities for alumni to cultivate their passion for learning through travel. We hope that your experience with Pirate Voyages provides a valuable service and an occasion for you to connect with fellow Pirate alumni, to reconnect with the resources available at ECU, and to enrich your understanding of those who share our world.

We have partnered with Orbridge to offer you opportunities to travel the world with fellow Pirates at affordable rates. Destinations and itineraries have been chosen by our travel partners based upon many years experience traveling the world. Our goal is to have all of our alumni travelers feel that their connection to East Carolina was enhanced by their travel experience.

This Orbridge specialty program offers intimate experiences with celebrated Italian makers, producers and chefs, showcasing age-old methods and ingredients of the Veneto and Emilia Romagna regions’ world-famous wine and cuisine. Make a beautiful, historic Italian wine estate outside Verona your base as you explore the region, visiting Verona's Roman Arena and other ancient sites, and discovering Italy's cultural connection to farm and table along the way. Touring centuries-old wineries, tasting rare hand-made cheeses, and dining in homes of chefs and producers are just some of the exclusive highlights of this journey.

August 9-16, 2014

The inexorable forces of nature are on full display in Alaska — mountains eroded by the crushing force of massive glaciers, icebergs crowding cold, aquamarine seas, the cycles of plants and animals compressed into the scant weeks of an arctic summer. Spend eight days navigating in luxury the waterways of the Inside passage aboard 66-passenger Admiralty Dream and witness wildlife up close from its kayaks and skiffs. Learn about Alaska’s culture at a a traditional Tlingit dance performance, and industry exploring the Alaska State Museum and visiting a salmon hatchery. With skilled naturalists by your side, encounter its abundant wildlife, magnificent peaks and fjords, and ice-blue glaciers of unfathomable proportions — while learning about the traditions of Alaska’s ancient cultures.
  • See the spray of whales only yards away and venture into secluded inlets as you get up close to nature, whether from the decks of the Admiralty Dream or aboard its skiffs and kayaks.
