Celebrating the Class of 1962
Celebrate your Golden Alumni Reunion with fellow 1962 graduates and friends! Members of the class and the Alumni Association have planned a fun, eventful reunion for you with plenty of opportunities to reconnect, reminisce, and renew your love for East Carolina. 1961 and 1963 graduates are also encouraged to participate.
REUNION ACTIVITES
THURSDAY, MAY 3
2:30-2:45 p.m.
Shuttle from City Hotel & Bistro to East Carolina Heart Institute
Ride in one of ECU’s student transit buses to the ECHI on the medical and health sciences campus. Be sure to wear PURPLE and GOLD to show your reunion participation and comfortable shoes for walking.
2:45-3:45 p.m.
Tour of ECU’s Heart Institute
Take a tour of East Carolina’s state-of-the-art Heart Institute and learn how practices here are changing the treatment of heart-related medical issues.
4:00-5:00 p.m.
Tour of ECU Athletic Complex
Go behind-the-scenes of ECU Athletics with an in-depth tour of athletic facilities, including Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, the Murphy Center, and the new Olympic sports complex.
5:00-6:00 p.m.
Shuttle from ECU Athletic Complex to City Hotel & Bistro, then back to main campus
Take this opportunity to return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. Reunion participants who did not take tours can use the shuttle to ride to campus for evening activities.
6:00 p.m.
Celebration Under the Stars on the Campus Mall
Enjoy a wonderful meal with your fellow classmates, and the Class of 2012 and their families! This event recognizes the achievements of the graduating class as well as the 50th Reunion class, bringing these two groups together to celebrate Pirate heritage and strengthen the ECU connection.
7:30 p.m.
Candlelight Induction Ceremony
Pass the torch of alumni status to the Class of 2012 during the Candlelight Induction Ceremony, a treasured tradition for the graduating class, their families, and members of the 50th Reunion class. 1962 graduates will light their candles from the 50th Reunion candle, then share the flame of alumni status with new graduates. Reunion participants will receive a medallion marking their induction into the Golden Alumni Society and to wear during graduation.
Shuttle available from main campus to return to City Hotel & Bistro.
FRIDAY, MAY 4
8:30 a.m.
Shuttle pick-up from City Hotel & Bistro to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium
Start off your morning with a quick ride to ECU’s football stadium for the annual graduation ceremony. (You will walk onto the football field, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring your camera.)
10:00 a.m.
Commencement Exercises at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium
Usher in the Class of 2012 at the annual ECU graduation ceremony. 50th Reunion participants will be given gold caps and gowns to wear and receive special recognition at the ceremony.
12:00 noon
Lunch with the University Historian
Enjoy a history-filled oration with University Historian Dr. John Tucker at the newly renovated Croatan.
1:30 p.m.
Shuttle from Croatan to Uptown Greenville and/or City Hotel & Bistro
Shuttle will take interested participants to Uptown Greenville or return to City Hotel & Bistro.
1:30-2:30 p.m.
Shopping and sightseeing in Uptown Greenville
Take this opportunity to see how the historic downtown area has grown and changed over the years. Please meet at U.B.E. in Uptown Greenville by 2:30 p.m. to catch the shuttle back to the City Hotel & Bistro.
7:00 p.m.
Reunion Dinner and Celebration at the City Hotel & Bistro
Enjoy a night of dinner and celebration at the City Hotel & Bistro in honor of the Class of 1962. Cap off your reunion weekend with this semi-formal event. Reunion participants will receive a commemorative gift.
