Your Alumni Association is Changing
Your alumni association is changing to better connect and engage with you and your fellow ECU alumni and friends. The ECU
Alumni Association will transition from its current transactional, dues-based membership model
to one that includes all Pirate alumni. Moving to a more inclusive model will allow us to better serve
all our graduates and friends around the world. The organizational structure, function, and mission of
the alumni association – to inform, involve, and serve members of the ECU family throughout their
lifelong relationship with the university – will remain the exact same. So will our commitment to you.
Carrying on our mission in an ever-changing world requires us to adapt and change as we continue
building a strong base of alumni support here at ECU. We are committed to creating a culture of
philanthropy, highlighting the impact of our important work, and asking everyone to do what they can
to help our cause.
Beginning July 1, you will no longer be asked to pay an annual membership fee to be a part of the
alumni association. Instead, I want to challenge you to make a gift to the ECU Alumni Priority Fund,
which helps preserve ECU history and traditions, supports student scholars and grows the vast ECU
Alumni Network.
Together, we have the power to change lives and transform futures for our ECU students and alumni.
We are providing resources and tools for Pirates to establish themselves as leaders within their industries
and local communities. We are building an award-winning ECU Connect platform that creates
endless career networking and mentorship opportunities for students and alumni. Those are only a
few examples of the ways in which your contribution makes a difference. As Pirates, we know that we
achieve more when we work together, and that the relationships we share are lifelong. I hope we can
count on your support as we chart this new course together. We are Pirates together, and Pirates forever!
