Steeped in Tradition

When the ECU Official Ring was designed in 2017, a committee of Pirate alumni, students, faculty and staff knew it had to represent symbols that every Pirate past, present and future would treasure. Beautifully woven into the three unique ring styles - traditional, signet, and a dinner ring - are: the crest on top with the letters ECU, a pirate sword, and elements of the university seal.

Still, if you ask a Pirate what other things they remember most about the campus, you hear the same answers. The Cupola. Wright's Fountain. The Mall. These iconic spots hold the memories and laughter of generations of Pirates who came before. It's only right that those spots and Pirates of the past play a major role in the ECU Official Ring tradition, too. Those vigilant spirits who watch as each new class comes to campus, are called upon to infuse the rings with generations of Pirate values and well-wishes for future success in the wearer's journey ahead. To see how the past and the present comes together, you need to be part of the ECU Official Ring Ceremony.

ECU Official Ring Ceremony

This is where the past and the present come together to unveil the treasure that is your ECU Official Ring. It's a celebration of ECU traditions where the history and symbolism of the ring is revealed. Friends and family are always invited, because every Pirate knows that it takes a dedicated crew to help sail to the final destination.

When you order your ECU Official Ring, you will receive it at the next scheduled ring ceremony. You'll take part in this incredible tradition, receive your ring that has been imparted with well wishes from past Pirates and will leave with a gorgeous reminder of your time at ECU - a reminder you will wear with pride and treasure forever.
