Meet Our 2024 Recipients

The Robert H. Wright Leadership Award presented by the ECU Alumni Association is an award given to undergraduate seniors at ECU and is named for Wright, the first president of East Carolina Teachers Training school and East Carolina Teachers College. The award recognizes academic achievement, university and community service, and leadership qualities of those students who live up to Robert H. Wright's legacy of using leadership to influence positive change.

Award recipients receive recognition at the spring commencement ceremony. They are highlighted in the commencement program and a press release is sent to the media, both locally and in their hometowns. The ECU Alumni Association also shares their award designation through all association social media and in the March issue of our e-newsletter, Pirate's Corner.

Award nominations are open beginning November 1 and close on January 31 annually. Recipients are announced by the alumni association in mid-February. Recipients are selected by the Awards Committee which is comprised of members of the ECU Alumni Association Board of Directors.
