Alumni Awards

Honoring the achievements and service of members of the Pirate Nation is extremely important to the ECU Alumni Association. The most public way in which we honor our alumni is at our alumni awards ceremony. The success of this program and the caliber of our award winners hinges on the nominations that alumni like you send recommending fellow Pirates for our awards. Here is the process for choosing the annual recipients of the Outstanding Alumni, Honorary Alumni, Virgil Clark '50 Distinguished Service and Young Alumni Achievement Awards.

The Process

  • Nominations are accepted November 1 to January 31.
  • Only complete nominations will be presented to the awards committee of the alumni association’s Board of Directors.
  • The committee reviews the nominees and selects the recipients. Selections by the Awards Committee are not subject to a vote by the total Board of Directors; however, a report of such action is submitted to the Board.
  • The recipients are then contacted to see if they are available to attend the awards ceremony and dinner which is a requirement to receive an award.
  • Once confirmation of attendance is obtained then the ECU Alumni Association will publicly announce the recipients.
  • If a nominee is not selected, they will be eligible again the following year. Nominations are valid for two years.
  • The Distinguished Service, Honorary Alumni, Outstanding Alumni and Young Alumni Achievement Awards are presented at the Purple and Gold Evening each fall.

All nominations are submitted electronically through Reviewr, our online submission process. Click the icon above to access instructions on how to create an account and submit a nomination.

You are encouraged to nominate someone today, so that they can be honored by the ECU Alumni Association and be held up as an example for the rest of the Pirate Nation.
